About Us
Our mission
Our mission is to help people fulfil their potential to live well.
Our vehicle
Our vehicle is coaching.
Both coaching and self-coaching can systematically unlock people’s capacity to live well.
Our ambition
We aim to create a world where everyone has access to effective coaching.
Coach training
We make it easy for people to become effective coaches.
Coaching
We make it easy to for people to access effective coaching and self-coaching.
Twin Roots
Coachwise has roots in both coaching practice and philosophy.
Wanting more from coaching
We acknowledge that the world of coaching is not all it might be.
Frustrated by all the waffle and lazy thinking, we set out to understand how coaching works at a mechanism level.
Understanding living well
The ultimate goal of coaching is to help people live well, in both their personal and professional lives.
So we drew from Philosophical Clarity, a project that provides a robust understanding of what living well means in practice.
A New Understanding
With a solid bedrock beneath us, we were able to see coaching in a new light.
Insight
For people to fulfil their potential to live well, they need insights into how they can align their actions with an examined sense of what truly matters.
Coaching guides the coachee’s attention to key aspects of their life and creates a space for such insights.
Support
Sustaining attention on life’s most important questions is often uncomfortable and exhausting.
Good coaching guides a process that’s well-structured and supportive.
Action
Insights only attain their full value when they inform a person’s actions.
A good coach helps people work out what steps to take, then holds them accountable for taking them.
A New Era
Our new understanding paves the way for a new era of coaching practice.
Solid Fundamentals
The lazy thinking that currently plagues the world of coaching can be replaced by a solid grasp of coaching’s fundamentals.
Coaching 2.0
The limitations of the current status quo in coaching can be overcome through the widespread adoption of our Coaching 2.0 blueprint.

Our Founder
Our founder, Mark Davidson, was uniquely able to lead Coachwise’s breakthroughs in the understanding of coaching.
A coach
Mark ran an outdoor education centre in the 1990s, then applied what he’d learnt to help build teams and develop leaders. The move to coaching came when he saw that this was where the greatest need was for what he had to offer.
He has worked with countless individuals, with companies such as Pfizer, Porsche and the China Construction Bank, and with business schools such as INSEAD, Harvard, and MIT.
A philosopher
Mark was the main thinker behind the Philosophical Clarity project.
Philosophical Clarity opens up a new way to understand what it means to live well. Rather than searching for abstract principles to follow, people can systematically apply insight to the particulars of their own life.
Good coaching helps people to do exactly that.
An all-rounder
Mark learnt to meditate when he was 19.
He is a poet and musician, and he plays capoeira.
