Advanced Practice

Level Three Practical — Become able to provide coaching as a professional service

Aim

Overview

This course will help you build the practical skills and abilities needed to deliver coaching as a professional service.

You will learn:

  • Techniques. If you’ve taken our level two courses, you’ll be familiar with coaching’s three core tools — creating comfort, open questions and attentive listening. On this course, you’ll learn the additional twelve tools that every professional coach should know when and how to use.
  • How to structure the coaching process. You’ll learn to guide people through all four phases of a professional-level coaching process.

Course Structure

The course is made up of four modules, one for each phase of a well-structured coaching process.

In each module:

  • You’ll learn what needs to happen in the relevant phase of the coaching process for the coaching as a whole to be effective.
  • You’ll learn three coaching tools that will help you coach the relevant phase skilfully.
  • You’ll use what you’ve learnt to coach the people on your learning team. You will also receive coaching from them.

Assessment

You can gain your Level Three Coach qualification by uploading evidence of three pieces of professional-level coaching, along with descriptions of what you did to make the sessions effective.

Learning Teams

The skill-building games and reciprocal coaching exercises are designed for three people, usually someone in the coach role, someone in the coachee role, and an observer.

So you’ll need to put together a three-person learning team.

You can use the Learning Teams on the course forum or the members search facility to put your team together.

You will need a standard pack of playing cards.
